Terms and Conditions
These program rules govern the Newtown Savings Bank Refer-a-Friend Reward Program (“program”). Participation in the program constitutes acceptance of all associated terms and conditions contained herein. All terms and conditions for other accounts and services remain unchanged. Newtown Savings Bank reserves the right to modify the program terms and conditions or discontinue the program at any time at its sole discretion and without prior notice.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the program, the referring customer (“referrer”) must be an existing Newtown Savings Bank customer with an existing checking or saving account in good standing (Health Savings Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and IRAs do not qualify as an existing checking or saving account). The referred customer cannot have any existing checking account relationship with Newtown Savings Bank. The referrer and the referred customer must be enrolled in Online Banking or Mobile App to participate. We do not charge for Online Banking/Mobile App. Your mobile device provider may charge you fees. The referrer and the referred customer must be at least 13 years of age. Employees of Newtown Savings Bank are not eligible to participate in the program in any capacity.
Account Opening Requirements
Referred customers must open a new consumer or business checking account (Money Market and Health Savings Accounts do not qualify as a new checking account) and must use the phone number associated with the referral received to earn the Reward. Account opening is subject to approval and standard account eligibility requirements must be met as a part of this program. New account applications will be screened through ChexSystems. Personal and business checking accounts have a minimum deposit of $25 to open.
Qualifying Activities
Within 60 days of opening a new checking account as described above, the referred customer must complete the following qualifying activities: At least five (5) debit card point of sale (POS) purchases, minimum of $5.00 each, that must post and clear the account or a qualifying direct deposit of $150 or more. The referrer and the referred customer must be enrolled in Online Banking or Mobile App to participate.
Rewards
After 30 days and upon successful completion by the referred customer of the Account Opening Requirements and Qualifying Activities described above, a New Customer Reward of $50 will be deposited into the checking or saving account of the referred customer, and a Referral Reward of $50 will be deposited into the checking account of the referrer. There is no minimum balance required to earn the bonus, however the accounts must be open and in good standing at the time the rewards are paid. Rewards may be reported as income to the IRS. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your specific situation.
Restrictions
Referred customers are limited to receiving one New Customer Reward. Referrers are limited to receiving ten (10) Referral Rewards per calendar year (total $500). Referred customers must reside in Connecticut, per the Terms and Conditions.
